A Great Christmas Party

If you want to put together a really fun Christmas party for your friends and family, why not show them some Christmas movies? This works best for a smaller group, since it is easier to cater to the tastes of a particular group (plus you won’t have to pause as much when people need to get up and go to the restroom!), but it would really work for any size of party. You can choose the films you show based on the makeup of the group, so you could choose an older classic if the group skews somewhat older, or you could choose a rowdier Christmas comedy for a younger group. Read on for our top suggestions.

For a group that would prefer a more sedate (but still great!) Christmas classic, you might want to choose “It’s a Wonderful Life”. This movie is an all time classic, directed by Frank Capra and starring Jimmy Stewart. Its tells the story of a man who becomes depressed, and then he gets a chance to see what his family and his town would have been like if he had never existed. Despite not being a specifically Christmas movie, this movie has become associated with the holidays over the years, and its message fits right in with the holiday spirit.

For a younger group, we recommend a movie that has come to be considered a Christmas classic despite being only 20 years old. Christmas Vacation from National Lampoon! For an extra funny treat, you could pull out some Christmas Vacation moose mugs and serve your friends some eggnog in the middle of the movie. These glasses are just like the ones used by the family in the movie! And you’re not limited to eggnog! With our favorite margarita recipe, you could even serve your friends some great holiday margaritas!
